Every Wednesday at our local library they have storytime for toddlers. When we first started going I was a little nervous. T is constantly on the move so to sit still for story time, I was nervous. Luckily she loves books and loves to dance to music. They do both!
Listening to the story
They also do activities. She generally walks around, plays with a center for a couple minutes and then goes to the next. One week, she actually colored a picture.
At the end of storytime, T loves to walk around the children’s part of the library. Her favorite thing is to look in the turtle and find kids that are normally hiding in it.
Do you see what I see?
I am sad that last week was our last storytime for a while. We will definitely be going back next summer.
and not just for the sticker
While T and I were in KC we went to the Zoo with my friend Kristy and her daughter. The KC Zoo has really updated a lot since I was growing up. I remember a lot of peacocks and snakes and mostly birds. This was not the zoo that we saw this time.
We had to go in and see the new penguin exhibit. T loved watching them swim by her. Of course she called them a “duck” because every bird is apparently ducks these days. Close enough.
While daddy was in Kenya, we decided to visit Kenya KC style as well. While we were there we saw the African Dogs or daaaawwggg as T would say. We also saw the elephants. On this trip, she called it an “ella” not a daawwgg like in the Springfield Zoo. :)
Welcome to Kenya
After eating lunch by the giraffes, it was time to head back but not until after we rode the train and the carousal. (On the train ride, T finally learned to drink out of a straw! Thanks Kristy!!!)
First ride was a hit!
Special thanks to Kristy and G for a great trip to the zoo!!
I know I’m almost a month late but…
While T and I were in KC, my dad took some pictures of her in her 4th of July outfit. Here are a few of my favorites.
She actually left on her hat!
Showing off her 4 teeth!
I hope everyone had a great 4th!!
This year’s 4th of July was a little different than we have celebrated in the past. This year, K went to visit his family overseas and T and I went to visit my mom and dad in KC. So, we dropped K off at the airport on our way out of town and headed to KC.
That night T and I went with my parents and Kristy and her family to see the fireworks at Oak Park. This is where we always went to watch the fireworks growing up. I wasn’t sure how T would handle it but as long as we ooohhhh and ahhh about it with her ears covered, she did great. Although she wasn’t so sure about them.
Mom also got out my old pool from the attic. After cleaning it up, T took a test drive in it. T is a little water baby and LOVES to play in the water.
T spent a lot of time playing outside. Here are a few of my favorites.
Drinking from the water bottle
Taking a Root Beer
Riding her tricycle.
One of T’s favorite things to do is to read. She enjoyed books from both her library and Grandma’s while she was up there. At the end of the night, it generally looked like this on Grandma and Grandpa’s living room floor:
Books, books, books
There was always time for reading at Camp Grandma.
Reading with Grandpa
Reading with Grandma
In the end, when you are 1 and you go to Camp Grandma, you have to take your mom.
We had a great time! Thanks for having us!
Once again we had Kevin of Tinney Photography take some pictures of T for her first year. He did a great job. Here are a few of my favorites.
Of course she wanted to play with the “dawg” afterwards…
Last week was T’s first birthday! I really can’t believe it.
My mom came down to help us celebrate. (Her party isn’t until next weekend.) She got a car from my mom and dad that she pushes ALL over the place. It’s great because she can turn it when she gets to a wall to go the other way. She really thinks she is big stuff.
Love my new car!
K and I got her a slide for out back. Of course I don’t have a picture of that. She loves going down the slide! She keeps trying to climb up the slide on the slide part, not the stairs. I guess that kind of fun is ingrained in us.
After presents we of course had to have cake. (aka cupcake from The Cup)
It has been such a blessing to watch her grow up from a cuddly baby to a busy toddler this last year. I can’t wait to see what the next year bring us.
I found a simple water table on Zulily towards the end of the school year. It has rained most of the month of June so the table spent longer than I wished in my living room. T thought it was great fun even without the water.
Who needs water?
Then we added water, when the sun finally decided to make an appearance. Boy did she love it!! She walked around the table and played with all the different water toys.
The whole front of her shirt and shorts were SOAKED after playing with the table. Lesson learned, next time she shall wear a swimsuit. If we ever get to see the sun again…
This past Memorial Day weekend we drove to Omaha for my cousin’s oldest son’s graduation. (Talk about making me feel old. I remember holding him as a newborn.) We stayed with H and K at their new house. They have been working hard to make it their own and it looks great!! On Sunday, they even threw a small BBQ for the family. (Not that they or we had planned on it but it sure was fun.)
T helping to clean the new picnic table before people came
Tianna’s cousin’s Katie and Izzy have been waiting since last summer to meet T. Katie was more than excited to ohhh and ahhh over everything she did. She was so patient with her and did a great job entertaining her that weekend.
Going for a little walk
We had a great time! It was great to see everyone. It had clearly been too long. I didn’t have a lot of pics from the weekend. I know there are others that took a lot.
I know this sounds cliche but I really can’t believe T is already 11 months old. Ok, well as of today she is just a week shy of a year old. Even more unbelievable! Her last month was full of ear infections. Honestly, in the last 7 weeks she has been on antibiotics more than not. If this final round doesn’t seem to help then it looks like we will be seeing a specialist.
Anyways, here are a few pictures from the last month.
I can help you push the cart!
Eating out of a bowl
Because the world is always great with an Easter egg.
Chasing with the lion
Loves to read her books
11 Months. Love her wrinkled up nose smile.
Tongue is out half the time.
Ok, ok, ok…. I know this post is a little over due but here we go. On April 25th Tianna took her first steps!! Now, we pretty much had to trick her into continuing to walk much like you would when you are learning to ride a bike but she did it. Don’t get me wrong, she still prefers to cruise and can cruise with the best of them!
